Special fully enclosed motor units are available for shopfront counter shutters. These units (known as tubular motors) are enclosed within the roller drum. A small built-in manual over-ride rojects behind the roller drum. These units arc operated with a key switch from a 240 volts power source (single phase). They are available in a range of sizes and can be used for shutter up to 3800mm wide x 2500mm high. Emergency operation is available via a removable crank handle. Limit switches and brake are built-in. Motor bearings and planetary gears lubricated for lifetime service.

The unit shall consist of a totally enclosed reduction gear box, housing a phosphor bron7e worm wheel and a nickel steel worm shift. Bearings shall be tapered radial thrust. The casing is fitted with multiservice grease prior to installation and shall be sufficient for the life of the gearbox. A three phase motor unit will drive the gearbox which has a reduction ratio of 45 to 1. The drive unit has built-in limit switches which should be connected and adjusted on installation by an electrician in order to limit the travel of shutter curtain. or)nritina swilon gear consist of push button incorporating contactors, mechanical interlock and thermal overload to protect the electric motor. Operating coils on the contactors are 240 volts therefore wiring from the power source shall be 415 volts plus neutral. Motor sizes range from .75kW to 1.5kW. Standard motors are drip proof, special units such as TEFC or flame proof motors are available on request. Break motors are recommended for openings in excess of 6500mm high. Emergency chain operation is available on every motor unit. N.B. Single phase 240 v is also available.
