Following Ansa Doors successful tender to supply and install 6 large pairs (3.2m wide x 6.0m high) of industrial double swing doors, for the Yarra Trams Depot in Southbank, Ansa Doors is pleased to confirm the successful completion of this detailed and challenging project. The builder on the project, Leighton Contractors Pty Ltd was delighted with the quick turnaround from concept to finished product and thanked Ansa Doors for their initiative and drive to ensure an ‘on-time’ hand over of the building to Yarra Trams.
The new Southbank Tram facility will house all the current trams as well as the fifty newly proposed low floor trams, expected in Melbourne within the next few months. Melbourne’s tram network is the world’s largest, with about 182 million passenger trips now made on trams each year.
To achieve the requirements of the Tender, Ansa worked closely with Leighton and Yarra Trams. The doors are designed to operate utilising motorised hydraulic ram style openers on custom brackets and rebated mounts which allows the setup to work effectively. Further to this, a manual pedestrian access door was also incorporated into each set of the larger motorised swing doors. This project further highlights Ansa Doors’ unique ability to design, engineer and deliver Specialty door solution products to the market.
